Very useful and essential secure good quality (the same quality fitted to this makers instruments) nylon 'gut wire' to replace/repair an old worn one.

1. New out of the bag

2. Fitted to the maker's cellos as standard

3. Comes complete with split compression sleeve and cupped olive to provide secure compression against the nylon gut wire under the full constant tension of the violin's strings tuned in and therefore ready to play! A lot of force or tension is exerted on the gut wire even though the saddle relieves this tension on the ridge as it bends over it.

4. A slipping gut wire is the end of playing your cello in tune

5. Low cost quick fix to this problem of slipping. Slipping occurs when the threaded part of the nylon gut wire at the ends or tails begins to wear (even though once set you shouldn't need to adjust it) and the thread goes smooth and the brass compression two part pieces cannot grip sufficiently to stop them slipping down the gut wire

6. These pieces will be easy to screw up or down the gut wire's tail for final adjustment of the tail piece. The saddle end of the tailpiece should be more or less 2/3mm from the saddle at the ridge. So the tailpiece must not be allowed to slide up the violin and move nearer the bridge. By re-tuning you are actually letting the tail piece creep up. Why? Because the gut wire is slipping.

7. The threaded ends will fit through most holes of your ebony tailpiece.

8. Dimensions - length 4/4 to 7/8 to 3/4 = 290mm x 3.10mm diametre of the gut wire x 3.10mm dia. at the threaded part and the length of each end, the threaded part 50mm

9. If you still need more thread, maybe the cello has a very shallow body depth you can continue firmly 'cutting' more thread up the plain nylon black part, a few more turns.

10. The body of the tailpiece acts as the stopper to start the compression ferrule gripping

11. I know I've described everything too fully but actually it is, when carefully thought out, easy to do by yourself. :-)), really. If not hand it to your teacher or luthier to fix.

12. Get your lovely sounding cello back in stable pitch!!

13. Best fit between the 2 part brass compression bush and olive along the nylon threaded ends

14. Extremely strong to resist pull from the enormous tension of the cello strings C G D A

The carbon fibre tail piece example in some of the photographs is not in this sale..(( It's to show you a new gut wire fitted..))
